Students will practice We Are the World (Clearwater). Students will learn to read quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests. Students will learn to play various notated songs and explore all areas of music in music stations (ukulele, djembe, keyboard, handbells, boomwhackers, reading, music listening, glockenspiels) 1st Grade Students will learn a Hawaiian and Samoan Sasa dance (Clearwater) Students will practice We Are the World (Clearwater) Students will learn to read notated tonal patterns. Students will learn to play notated songs with boomwhackers. Students will compose short compositions to be played with boomwhackers. 2nd Grade Students will learn to sing and play a song accompanied by the xylophone and djembe. Students will learn to sing in a round. Students will practice We Are the World (Clearwater) 3rd Grade Unit - Instrument Research Project Students will research the sound production, invention date, origin, and facts about an instrument of their choosing. Students will present an Instrument Research Project to the class. Students will practice We Are the World (Clearwater) Students will learn to play Balafon, a multi-layered Zimbabwe song on the xylophone, recorder, and djembe. Students will analyze the instrumentation, dynamics, tempo, and mood of an orchestral piece (Clearwater). 4th Grade Students will learn to play Lion Sleeps Tonight on the recorder, boomwhackers, eggshakers, and djembe. (Clearwater). Students will practice We Are the World (Clearwater) Students will learn about D.C. al fine and fine in music compositions through the spiritual "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". Students will learn to play Two-Three, a multi-layered Zimbabwe song on the xylophone (Largo). 5th Grade Students will learn the Olympic Theme song on the recorder, xylophone and djembe accompaniment in preparation for the Olympic Ceremony. (Clearwater) Students will practice We Are the World (Clearwater) Students will learn about D.C. al fine and fine in music compositions through the spiritual "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". Students will learn to play Mbira Jam, a multi-layered Zimbabwe song on the xylophone.

Students will review the Percussion and String Instruments Students will listen to, analyze, and describe a musical excerpt. Students will review dynamics piano, forte, and fortissimo. Students will learn a Valentine's Day singing game. 1st Grade (Continued Lesson) Students will learn to play various notated songs and explore all areas of music in music stations (guitar, ukulele, drums, keyboard, handbells, boomwhackers, reading, music listening, glockenspiels) 2nd Grade Students will learn to sing and play a song accompanied by the xylophone. Students will improvise and notate a rhythmic accompaniment on the xylophone. 3rd Grade Unit - Instrument Research Project Students will present an Instrument Research Project to the class. Students will research the sound production, invention date, origin, and facts about an instrument of their choosing. 4th Grade Unit - World Instrument Listening Students will learn about the indigenous instruments of six different countries. Students will discuss the instruments and explore facts about the country. 5th Grade Students will learn the Olympic Theme song on the recorder, xylophone and djembe accompaniment in preparation for the Olympic Ceremony.
